Chance Is Almost Home

Chance and his toy

Monday 11:00am

I learned over the weekend that the response to Chance’s story has been more incredible then I had imagined. Traffic to this blog and the Wishbone Pet Rescue web site has exceeded several thousand each day, with page requests reaching tens of thousands on peak days. Imagine that… I’m so overwhelmed.

So.. I’ve resolved to be more diligent in giving you regular updates on Chance’s progress and his journey to a new home. We are getting close to that.. and I promise to take you with him every step of the way.

Last Thursday Chance had another vet visit for a blood draw and urine analysis. A complete panel was performed so it was sent out for service. I just received the results this morning. I’m very pleased to tell you all that his BUN has dropped to 51, his creatine to 4.6, and his phosphorus remains in the normal range.

I wouldn’t yet say he is on a solid path for recovery, but it is going very well and given what he has been through, it is remarkable and could hardly ask for better progress.

His appetite has improved considerably. He is less picky about his food, is more active, much more alert, and more interactive with us. A couple weeks ago we had to coax him to play. Now, that is all he wants to do. I work from home and spend all day at my computer.. some days I can barely get work done. He constantly is in my lap with his favorite squeaky toy or furry wubby.

We are anxious for him to find his new home and start a new life, but we will miss him terribly. He’s been a joy to have in our lives.

Thanks for the update….we’ve been chompin’ at the bit for an update. Thanks for taking care of him and hopefully he’ll be in just as good of a home as he is now. Sounds like everything worked in his favor.

    Rusty’s Mom
Thanks for your continued interest. We hold our breath everytime we take him for a blood draw. We were told that his progress could be tenuous and he could crash after some initial improvement. So each day he improves, it is more and more likely that he will recover enough to lead a pretty normal life. I felt like we were living under a cloud for the past few weeks, but each week the sun peaks out a little more.

  • DOGLVR:

thanks fosterdad for the update!! I also have been waiting anxiously to hear how Chance is doing…….thank you, thank you, thank you!!

More good energy coming your way for you and yours….and Chance of course! I’m so happy that Chance is recovering so well from the abuse he endured….and the poison…..Any word on what the DA is gonna do to the waste of space that did this???

  • DOGLVR:

I am just amazed by the difference in Chance. If you look at his pictures on the main page blog at the bottom such a sad and bewildered Chance and NOW WOW he is happy , smiling and having the time of his life! What a difference you have made in his life and how incredibly strong and resilent Chance is too!! We love the pictures and the updates thank you for your devotion to Chance and to all of us as well to keep us informed. We all look forward to one day seeing Chance go home to his forever home with an owner that is devoted , caring and loving towards him as you! We keep you all in our prayers .

I wish I could adopt Chance myself but my “kid” (Bruno) wouldn’t allow him. I know there is someone out there that will love and care for Chance for the rest of his life and give him lots of toys and love! Please keep the updates coming.
