We can see the Road
Thursday, 7:00pm
Well our boy Chance had another vet appointment today to follow up on his urinary infection and blood levels. I won’t have the results of the urine culture for a few days but his blood levels continue to improve. BUN 46 (25 is normal), creatinine 4.4, and phosphorus smack in the middle of normal at 4.9.
I was particularly pleased with the phosphorus levels since he’s been on his modified diet for going on two weeks. It means he won’t have a life limited to renal diet foods. As I mentioned previously, he just won’t eat the Science Diet K/D food so we’ve been feeding him Merrick’s. They have a great variety of really yummy stuff all with well balanced proteins and low phosphorus. Foster Mom and I joke that we’d pull up a chair and eat it with him.. names like Thanksgiving Dinner, Salmon Feast, Cowboy Cook Out, and Brats & Tots. Who wouldn’t eat that ?
Over the next few weeks we expect to see his blood levels continue to move toward normal. They may never get there completely, but he’s shown that he can live quite an active and happy life with slightly elevated levels.
We’re starting to see the road for Chance, and the time will come soon that he continues his journey with a new family. We’ll be so sad to see him go, but absolutely ecstatic that he survived to make the trip.
I’m Sorry I have no new pictures to post today, but promise to get something up for you tomorrow.

thank you for the update! Plz give Chance a scratch behind the ears for me FosterDad!
Consider it done DOGLVR. He’s sitting in my lap as I type this ( kinda hard to type ) and chewing on tennis ball.
