Chance’s Abuse Case Moves to Trial

Just wanted to pass along the results of today’s pre-trial meeting with Jason William’s attorney and
Allegan Prosecutor Fred Anderson.

Mr. Anderson stuck to his guns and only offered “plead guilty as charged” to the felony animal torture charge. Jason William’s attorney turned down that offer so the case will move to trial in Circuit Court.
Both prosecution and defense will file their motions by May 6, after which a motions hearing will be scheduled. Once motions are heard, and assuming the judge does not dismiss the charges, a trial date will be scheduled in Circuit Court.
Thank you all for your continued support and your letters and e-mails to the prosecutor. I’m sure they gave Mr. Anderson a measure of confidence that he had public support for this case. And thanks to Chance’s parents, their constant communication with the prosecutor’s office has kept us current on the events.
