A Golden Gala
”A Golden Gala”
Dear neighbor,
Several months ago, we discovered an amazing book, “Until Tuesday”, a heartwarming story about a true American hero, former Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan and his beautiful best friend, a trained service dog named Tuesday.
This highly decorated seventeen-year U.S. army veteran shares his story of war and the strength and courage it took to survive on a daily basis, upon his return home from multiple combat tours in Iraq. His struggle inspired him to write “Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him. It is described as a story about war and peace, injury and recovery, psychological wounds and spiritual restoration. In additional to receiving several awards, Capt. Montalvan’s writings have been featured in many publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post, just to name a few, along with many television appearances. His story even caught the attention of the big screen and a major motion picture will be released in 2013. Visit their website at www.Until-Tuesday.com.
We are very excited to announce that we have invited Luis and Tuesday to spend sometime with us in our beautiful community. We will have the honor to hear their story, along with a book signing, at “A Golden Gala” to be held at The Laketown Golf and Conference Center, Saugatuck on Friday, April 26th, 2013 at 6.30 pm.
We know this opportunity will be a wonderful way to kick off the Saugatuck season after a long Michigan winter and we look forward to sharing this special individual with our community as he advocates for our veterans with hidden disabilities. We decided to celebrate his visit by honoring both animals and veterans at this event. We are very happy to announce that the proceeds will be split amongst two non-profits, Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance, an organization we are all familiar with -www.wishbonerescue.com and Operation Injured Soldier. This organization, with members throughout Michigan, aids in the mental and physical rehabilitation of disabled soldiers by providing many outdoor recreational activities. Please visit their website at www.injuredsoldiers.org. to learn of their great work.
We are looking for sponsors for this event to help underwrite it. Would you consider being one of our sponsors in order for these two organizations to truly benefit from this wonderful evening? Your generous contribution will be highlighted in all our promotional and advertising materials and recognized at the event.
Details on how to make your donation are listed on the attached sheet.
Thank you so much for your support in making this event an exciting reality. For more information, please contact us at goldengala2013@gmail.com or call 847-922-2240.
Warm regards,
